About the event
Join us for this five-week homeschool program on Wednesdays, 10:00 AM - noon, beginning November 20.
Ages: 7-12
We'll be diving into some exciting topics in the field of biology. Through hands-on learning, we'll explore how the human brain works and learn all about DNA and the role that iron plays in keeping us healthy. This Biology Science Explorer program has three modules:
1) How Does the Human Brain Work? Students will make clay brains of Insects, fish, reptiles, birds, cats/dogs, and humans and then color 5 major brain structures to visualize how the brain evolved from reptiles to humans. We'll make a giant neuron that fires up chemicals and learn the role of the main chemicals used by neurons to communicate with each other. Finally, we'll make a brain hat and explore why learning from mistakes is actually good for our brain, and can even make us smarter.
