New Position Posting (6/19/25): Seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator
Rockville Science Center is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to help the Rockville Makerspace and Tool Library build relationships with local communities, with a focus on connecting with underrepresented/underserved populations. Part of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Rockville Science Center, the Rockville Makerspace and Tool Library provides access to tools, technology, and training for people in Rockville and nearby areas. More information about the Makerspace is available here: https://www.rockvillesciencecenter.org/rockville-makerspace
Located in Rockville Town Center, the Rockville Science Center works throughout the year to bring STEM education and mentorship opportunities to learners of all ages (we like to say 7-97!). Some of the programs we offer include classes (life science topics, robotics, programming, etc.), summer camps, two monthly online lecture series, field trips to local science-related sites, special interest clubs (math, chess, amateur radio), and scouting programs. Our Makerspace offers the community free access to a wide variety of tools and equipment and a membership-based Tool Library. We are especially proud of our high school Explorer Post engineering teams (over 50 students strong this year!) who compete against teams from across the US and consistently place at or near the top every year. In fact, last year’s drone team placed first in the advanced division at the UAS4STEM competition in Oshkosh, WI. You can read more about our organization and the programs we offer at rockvillesciencecenter.org.
We are looking for someone to join our team and spearhead our commitment to bring our Makerspace and Tool Library programs to more people. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community outreach and a drive to make a difference.

Young Scientists Program - RFI
The Rockville Science Center is seeking letters of interest as we consider plans to offer a one-hour science-focused class for young children, ages 3 to 6. The goal of the class is to engage children in hands-on, interactive learning activities that spark curiosity and foster an early love for science and discovery.
Through this Request for Information (RFI) process, we will select a group of vendors for follow-up, which will include asking you for much more in-depth project plans and budgets. In this initial phase we're only requesting that you provide a few pages of introduction and case studies so we can familiarize ourselves with the options for potential partners. We are specifically aiming to make it quicker for vendors to respond so that we’re able to get replies from potential partners who wouldn’t otherwise take the time to write a detailed letter of interest.
