About us...

Rockville Science Center
Bringing science to life since 2009

The Rockville Science Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring a passion for lifelong learning. Through our classes, makerspace, and public events, we serve as the primary resource for scientific exploration and workforce development in Montgomery County, MD.

The Rockville Science Center's programs are unique in that we reach learners from ages 4-94 offering them hands-on learning experiences and the opportunity to connect with the scientific community. We believe that science education should be accessible to all and that our community is stronger with a dedicated space where we can learn together.

Pillars of Community Impact
The RSC serves as a vital expansion of science education in Montgomery County through four core pillars:

  • K-12 Education: Bridging the gap for parents seeking high-quality STEM opportunities.

  • The Makerspace & Tool Library: A high-tech hub for entrepreneurs, makers, and DIYers featuring CNC machining, 3D printing, laser engraving, and a "Repair and Reuse" culture.

  • Explorer Post 1010: A premier program where students from high schools across the county master engineering, rocketry, and robotics.

  • Rockville Science Day: The region’s largest STEM festival, celebrating its 35th year in 2026 with an expected 4,000+ visitors.
