The Rockville Science Center (RSC) recently learned that we must vacate our current facility. In 2025, the Center served over 9,000 regional residents, including 1,210 students in our on-site STEM programs—a 79% increase in participation from the previous year. Among our many success stories is "Some Assembly Required," a team of local high schoolers from Explorer Post 1010 who secured 1st Place in the Advanced Category at the UAS4STEM Drone National Finals in both 2024 and 2025.

 

RSC is urgently seeking a new facility in the Rockville area to ensure these vital programs continue. The Center has launched a $1 Million Fundraising Campaign to secure a permanent home and sustain our mission of equity and accessibility in science. You may be thinking, a million dollars...that's a lot of money. You are absolutely correct, but thinking small is not going to fulfill our vision for a bigger space that can house both an expanded Science Center complete with laboratory and classroom space, as well as room for our award-winning high school engineering teams to engage even more students, and a fabulous Makerspace chock full of tools and equipment for our community to use. Let's work together to make this vision a reality right here in Montgomery County!
