The 2024 Solar Eclipse will be visible in Rockville on April 8th with near totality at 90%. An eclipse is the universe at its most dramatic and they rarely cross the continental United States. Join us as Eric Lyness talks about various Solar Eclipses seen in North America.

Our Speaker: Eric Lyness is an engineer with the Solar System Exploration Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He helped build the Sample Analysis at Mars instrument on Curiosity and worked on Mars time during the first 100 “sols” of the mission in 2012. He is now the software lead on the Mars Organic Molecule Analyzer instrument that was aboard the rover Rosalind Franklin rover that landed on Mars in 2023.
