About the event
Tech Wizards (6-week program)
Dates: January 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19
Time: 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Age: 8 - 14
Throughout this series, students will be working on two technical projects: an Arduino car and a can crusher experiment. Join us as we learn tons of skills to build an autonomous car and also have some destructive fun crushing Coke and Pepsi cans! Come be a tech wizard at the Rockville Science Center!
The Tech Wizards program has two modules:
1) Arduino Projects (Electronic Circuits & Autonomous Car)Learn C++ language to program an Arduino to control LEDs, ultrasound sensor, servo motors, DC motors. Learn electrical circuits and how to use a soldering iron. Then, put all that knowledge together to build an “Autonomous Car” that can avoid obstacles and drive through a maze. At the end of the program, you can take the car home.
2) Creative Destruction & the Scientific MethodCrush Coke and Pepsi cans to find out which one is stronger. You will learn the scientific method by forming a hypothesis, gathering data, and running a statistical analysis to prove or disprove your hypothesis.
