About the event
“From Telegraph Cables to Artificial Intelligence: Unlocking the Power of Data,” tells the story of a college course that became a 23-year volunteer project that aims to help students and researchers around the world with processing scientific data using math and computer software, culminating in the rise of Artificial Intelligence, whose facility with language, including computer languages, may remake the way researchers handle their data in the future. Tom O'Haver is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland at College Park. He did research and taught in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the area of analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, and instrumentation development.
