All are welcome to tune in on Zoom for the August edition of the Rockville Science Cafe. This month's talk will provide an overview of the disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease, OI,) its pathophysiology, and novel findings of extra-skeletal pathologies in OI. Starting from the fundamental mutations in collagen molecules and its processing, the talk will build a picture of OI development and its fascinating implications for our understanding of bone biology. Building upon this understanding, the talk will discuss an up and coming research question in the field: how much of OI pathology arises from the skeleton?

Bella Radant is an MD/PhD student at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She is currently working at the National Institutes of Health to complete her PhD studying Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
