All are welcome to tune in on Zoom for the August edition of the Rockville Science Cafe. We are excited to welcome back Sethanne Howard, Ph.D., who served as Chief of the Nautical Almanac Office at the US Naval Observatory in Washington, DC. She will share stories of the US Naval Observatory and help us understand more about what it does for the nation.
Dr. Howard earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University. Her dissertation explained the now accepted idea behind the appearance of the Whirlpool Galaxy. Sethanne has taught high school physics, university astronomy, and has worked as an oceanographer and meteorologist for the US Navy. At the Navy she created and conducted an Automatic Data Processing and Geophysics training program.
