"Why Re-invent Newton's Laws?" with Dr. Hari Donthi
Time & Location
Oct 19, 2023, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Rockville Science Center, 36C Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD 20850, USA
About the event
The Rockville Numberphiles is a math club for adults and students in middle or high school (under 14 must attend with an adult). Our interactive discussions and presentations help youth and adults explore the broad range of elementary and advanced mathematics, its history, and problem solving.
This month's discussion: In the centuries after Newton formulated classical mechanics, lots of mathematicians continued to re-formulate the laws. These are in many ways simpler and can be applied in situations where applying Newton's laws can get hard.
Our presenter:
Dr. Hari Donthi got his Masters in Physics from Louisiana State University in 1996, and an MBA from University of Maryland in 2005. He was in a Ph.D. program in the Surface Science lab in LSU for 5 years before switching careers to software development. For the last decade or so, he has been consulting in the area of Data Analytics.
