About the event
A Rubik's cube is an incredibly common toy with enduring popularity, but it also has many fascinating mathematical properties. From set theory to God's Number, Rubik's cubes have more depth and interest to them than anyone could imagine from their simple exterior. Join us for a presentation on this timeless toy and mathematical wonder led by Sufyana Johnson, a high school student at Montgomery Blair High School's STEM magnet program who served as Captain of the top-ranking Westland Middle School Math Team and successfully competed at the MathCounts Maryland state competition during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The Rockville Numberphiles is a club for math enthusiasts from middle school to adult. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Our interactive discussions and presentations help mathematicians explore the broad range of mathematics, its history, and problem solving.
