Numberphiles, Amateur Radio & MoCo Makers: An Open Evening of Learning
All are welcome to join us for a special evening of open learning (in-person and online). Our topic is Maxwell's Equations - Partial Differential Equations. This event is hosted by Matthew Zamora and discussion will be led by Adam Mendenhall.
Time & Location
Dec 11, 2025, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Rockville Science Center, 36C Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD 20850, USA
About the event
A joint gathering of the Numberphiles math club, Amateur Radio Hangout, and MoCo Makers. All are welcome!
Maxwell's Equations - Partial Differential Equations
Hosted by Matthew Zamora. Presentation by Adam Mendenhall
In-person at the Science Center storefront or online at https://meet.google.com/kme-hano-onk
Join us as we explore the calculus describing light - classical electrodynamics. Maxwell's Equations informed later developments in relativistic field theory and quantum theory. This is a mathematical introduction to key math principals, and a breakdown of the mathematical interpretations of each various equation. Lastly, we'll see an application of the equations to a practical engineering scenario to show how these concepts propagate forward into systems design concepts.
It's fair to call this an advanced talk, but all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to attend anyway! What's the worst that happens, you learn something? This talk will form the mathematical framework for future projects and talks we are planning…
