The Rockville Science Center Makerspace is located right across the street from the Rockville Science Center in Rockville Town Square. Established in 2016 by Montgomery County and the Rockville Science Center, it has most of what a creator, builder, or maker would need to get their job done. We have a variety of tools and equipment available at the makerspace including, but not limited to:

•    Microcontrollers
•    Electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, and motors
•    Pick-a-part electronics for spare parts
•    Hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and Allen wrenches
•    Craft supplies such as yarn, wood sticks, and glue

All of these materials are available for your use in a spacious area with multiple tables, chairs, and a large TV screen on wheels. This makes our makerspace perfect for medium sized meetings, classes, seminars, and workshops. There is also a meeting room within the makerspace for smaller meetings and events.

Our makerspace has been home to many individuals and organizations over the years. Most notably, we routinely use the space for elementary, middle and high school robotic engineering teams who meet throughout the school year to work on their projects. Many local social meetup groups, clubs, and non-profits also use the space for their events throughout the year.

This is a community-driven, community-occupied, and community-maintained space where the ideas in your head can become reality.  Ready to get to work? We have open hours for the makerspace on Tuesdays: 6pm - 8pm for project night. If you'd like to use the space at an alternate time, please contact us at info@rockvillesciencecenter.org for more information.

Note: All ages are welcome to use the Makerspace, however children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
