A Personal Journey; Teaching and Researching the Genetic Basis of Learning and Memory.
With Dr. Angy Kallarackal
Dr. Angy Kallarackal will share the steps needed to enter a career at the bench in a research laboratory, along with her personal journey of how her love of science took her from studying Neuroscience to teaching Psychology and researching on the genetic basis of learning and memory.
About our Speaker:
Dr. Angy Kallarackal is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Mount St. Mary’s University. She got her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Utah in the Department of Biology. Her research focuses on the genetic basis of learning and memory using the model organism C. elegans to test the effects of drugs and genetic mutations on behavior (including locomotion, behavioral adaptation, and long-term memory).
