Linux / Unix User Group

December 29 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The Linux Users Group at the Rockville Science Center Makerspace is a place to learn more about Unix and Linux by discussing and practicing with others. Get to know other Linux/UNIX enthusiasts. Talk about your projects. Brainstorm about ideas for future meeting. Get help with your own Linux tasks or help others.

Maybe you’d like to know more about programming a Raspberry Pi, or trying out Ubuntu on a PC, or how to set up a web server or other device. This is an open forum to collaborate and share knowledge and skills. All are welcome.

Some projects we have started or plan to work on include:
– install demo: Arch Linux on a Raspberry Pi
– using Public Access Unix (and GNU/Linux) Systems: e.g. https://tilde.team
– setting up a Raspberry Pi as a stand-alone wireless access point
– setting up a server with NAS and other services, to practice with modern automation technology

Join tilde.team (https://tilde.team) for a command line environment in which you can interact with other LUG members and other Linux enthusiasts from around the world.
