Rockville Science Cafe: From Satellites to your Backyard

January 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NASA has two dozen Earth observing satellites who are collecting environmental data from our home planet. During this presentation, you will hear about a few of these missions and be invited to become a Citizen Scientist and use a free app (works on most smart phones and/or iPads) to help better understand and respond to our changing climate.

Dorian has a passion for sharing the wonders of NASA’s science and exploration with others across all age levels! For over three decades, she taught public school in both special and general education settings across all grade levels.  She was an Einstein Fellow Finalist and achieved National Board Certification in Science Education, served on numerous education working groups, and wrote science curriculum for the country. She fell head over heels in love with using NASA educational resources and missions as a fabulous method of engaging both young and old alike, and was able to develop and teach astronomy and Earth Science curriculum to students and inservice educators for the MCPS. She now serves as the Outreach Coordinator for NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission and is the Campaign Coordinator and Education Lead for The GLOBE Program’s “Mission Mosquito” campaign.
