“The Capture of German Submarine U-505”
with Dr. Sethanne Howard
The German submarine U-505 was captured by the U.S. Navy on June 4, 1944, making it the first enemy warship seized at sea by the U.S. since the War of 1812. Join us to learn why its capture was such an important moment in WW2 and to hear stories from presenter Sethanne Howard that were relayed to her by her father who was actually there.
Dr. Howard earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University. Her dissertation explained the now accepted idea behind the appearance of the Whirlpool Galaxy. Sethanne has taught high school physics, university astronomy, and has worked as an oceanographer and meteorologist for the US navy. We are pleased to welcome her back…
