For the Fall of 2011, the Rockville Robotics League is hoping to have several teams in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and competed in the 2011 Food Factor Challenge.

We will have an organizing meeting on September 1, 7:00pm at Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Avenue. Send an email to robotics@rockvillesciencecenter.org if you plan to attend (PowerPoint Presentation).

Last year, we had 18 middle and elementary school students working in three teams. We set up coaches working with each team, assisted by several experienced high school students. Parents helped with the "project" portion of the FLL competition and team logistics. You can see what we accomplished here.

Tournaments
We are planning to have a Qualifier Tournament in Rockville during January, 2012. If our teams do well enough, we will send some to the State Tournament during February at UMBC near Baltimore.

Can FIRST LEGO League Teams
Improve Our Food?

In the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, over 200,000 9-14 year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters – from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage – then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates.

US/Canada Registration Opens: 5/2/2011
Global Challenge Release: 9/2/2011
